I'm trying on the side to make a happy new year piece.. year of the dragon for the upcoming Chinese new year is year of the water dragon.. a black dragon to be precise from what i have read but no matter what kind of dragon i draw it has an ominously friendly smile on its face.. im not sure what happens but instead of dark and mysterious they come out grinning like they just put the world on. I have taken a break from it.. and started painting commissions again.

so this movie about Cleopatra is okay.i watched all 4 hours over several different watchings. its reaaally historically inaccurate though the lil important details they left out were not huge but enough for someone who knew about them to complain. which i just read a 1200 page book about her so yeah it paled in comparison. i actually like the movie about Caesar and Cleopatra with VivienLeigh better.. im more fond of caesar then Mark Antony though.

The set design was amazing and the costumes pretty whimsical also.

Ok so here's goes I started this playlist by picking one song from each album that was my favorite.I then listened to it while i was doing research on Cleopatra for new art commission and well if there was a modern day version of Cleopatra and her life.i think these songs could be on the soundtrack in some super surreal indie awesome past post modern for the times Sophia Coppola kindof way.i could just be completely weird though.Cleo was in love with many and was the last ruler of Egypt.She fell in love with Julius Caesar when he was 52 she was 21 & gave him his only son then after his death fell in love with mark antony & gave him 3 children while all in the middle of this they tried to conquer the world..lost to Octavian's forces mark antony and cleo committed suicide.Cleopatra's nose, had it been shorter, the whole face of the world would have been changed.here you go daughter of Isis. heres your indiefixx

Fundraiser for the Devastation in Japan
March 19 - April 13

Reception: This Saturday, March 19th, 6:30-10pm

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF (USF) is raising funds to help children in Japan impacted by the March 11th earthquake and tsunami. This is an unusual decision, as Japan is a donor to UNICEF, not a recipient of its assistance. However, due to the unprecedented nature of the epic disaster and its impact on children, resources are going to be critical in helping provide for the very unique needs of children. These may include health, development, and protection and other needs that may have been compromised or disrupted in the wake of the catastrophe. We're proud to join the effort, and have asked many of our talented friends to create water-themed art to raise funds to support the efforts of UNICEF.

Giant Robot will also be donating the following to UNICEF:
1. Proceeds from the sale of water bottles featuring labels created by artists and signed by celebrities.
2. Fifty percent of proceeds from Giant Robot’s small restaurant, gr/eats, on Saturday, March 19.
3. A percentage of all sales at Giant Robot, GR2, and GRSF during the weekend of March 18-20.
4. Raffles for donated merchandise including designer- and artist-signed items, GR gear, and more.
5. Cash donations accepted for UNICEF.
